Privacy Policy & Terms
How this campaign handles your information — in plain English.
Effective September 22, 2026
Who this covers
This policy applies to Mike Harvey for Bakersfield City School District 2026 (“the campaign,” “we” or “us”) and to this website, harveyforbcsd.com. It explains what we collect when you fill out a form here, what we do with it, and how to get it removed.
What we collect
We only collect what you type into a form on this site:
- Your name.
- Your email address and phone number, if you give them to us.
- Your ZIP code or street address, when you ask for a yard sign or tell us where you live so we can confirm you’re in the district.
- Anything you write in a message box.
- Whether you checked the box agreeing to receive text messages, along with the date and the exact wording you agreed to.
Our web host also keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and to stop spam. We do not use advertising trackers on this site.
How we use it
To run a campaign: to reply to you, to follow up about volunteering or a yard sign, to invite you to events, to ask for support, and to keep records that election law requires us to keep. That’s it.
We do not sell or share your information
We do not sell, rent, trade or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing with subcontractors in support services, such as our text message provider, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
The only other times we would hand over information are when the law requires it — for example a valid legal request, or a disclosure required by California campaign finance rules for contributions.
Text messages
If you give us your phone number and check the opt-in box, you agree to receive recurring text messages from Mike Harvey for Bakersfield City School District 2026 at that number. Checking the box is always optional — you can volunteer, request a yard sign, contribute or write to us without it, and we never pre-check it for you.
- What we send: campaign updates, event invitations, volunteer opportunities and requests for contributions.
- How often: message frequency varies.
- Cost: message and data rates may apply. We don’t charge you anything; your mobile carrier’s normal rates are between you and them.
- To stop: reply STOP to any message and we will stop texting that number. You’ll get one confirmation message.
- For help: reply HELP, or email [email protected].
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Not all mobile carriers or handsets support text messaging.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep what you send us for as long as the campaign is active, and keep contribution records for as long as California law requires. Records of text message consent are kept for as long as we may need to show that you agreed.
Want your information removed, corrected, or a copy of what we have? Email [email protected] and we’ll take care of it.
Children
This site is meant for adults taking part in a local election. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If a child has sent us something, email us and we’ll delete it.
Security
Form submissions are sent over an encrypted connection and stored in access-controlled campaign systems. No website can promise perfect security, but we limit who on the campaign can see your information to the people who need it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the effective date at the top of the page. Continuing to use the site after a change means the new version applies.
Terms & Conditions
These terms apply alongside the privacy policy above.
Using this site
By using harveyforbcsd.com or submitting a form here, you agree to these terms and to this privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site. You agree to give accurate information, and to only submit a phone number that is yours or that you have permission to enter.
Text message terms
The text message program described above is operated by Mike Harvey for Bakersfield City School District 2026. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase, contribution or other participation in the campaign.
Content and trademarks
The text, photos, and artwork on this site belong to the campaign or are used with permission. You may share and link to our pages; please don’t republish our materials as your own or use them in a way that suggests the campaign endorses something it doesn’t.
No warranty and limitation of liability
This site is provided “as is.” We work to keep it accurate and available, but we don’t guarantee it will be error-free or uninterrupted. To the fullest extent allowed by law, the campaign is not liable for any indirect or incidental damages arising from your use of this site or from messages you receive.
